Decimal Places

Decimal Places controls how many digits appear after the decimal point when Pocket Clear shows an amount. Some people want the cents on every line; others prefer round numbers and less visual noise. This setting lets you pick.

It is a display setting only. It changes how amounts are shown — nothing about the amounts themselves changes.

How to change it

1. Open Pocket Clear and go to Settings.
2. Tap Decimal Places.
3. Choose Auto, 0, 2, or 3.
4. Amounts across the app update to the option you picked.

The options

Auto (default)

Follows the currency's own native precision. Most currencies have two decimal places, so an amount shows as $12.34. Currencies with no minor unit show without decimals — see the note below.

0 decimals

Amounts appear rounded to whole units: $12. Useful if you think in round numbers and find the cents distracting.

2 decimals

Always two digits after the point: $12.34. This forces two decimals even for currencies that would otherwise show none.

3 decimals

Always three digits after the point: $12.340. Intended for currencies whose smallest unit is a thousandth rather than a hundredth.

Currencies with no minor unit

Some currencies — the Japanese yen is the common example — have no fractional unit in everyday use. On Auto, those currencies are shown without decimals, which matches how amounts are normally written in them. If you'd rather see decimals anyway, pick 2 or 3 explicitly.

Good to know

• Display only. Choosing fewer decimals changes what you see, not what is stored. Your amounts are kept exactly as you entered them.
• Entry is unaffected. This setting does not change how you type an amount in — you enter amounts the same way regardless of which option is selected.
• Reversible at any time. Switching back to Auto restores the currency's native precision, and any detail hidden by a lower setting reappears.
