Terms of Service

Welcome to Pocket Clear. By using our mobile application, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Pocket Clear, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our app.

2. Description of Service

Pocket Clear is a personal expense tracking application that allows you to:

• Record income and expenses
• Organize transactions by category
• View spending reports and charts
• Optionally sync data to the cloud (Pro feature)
• Set budgets for spending categories (Pro feature)
• Optionally connect brokerage accounts to view your investment net worth (Wealth, Beta)
• Optionally turn on on-device AI to capture expenses from bank messages, receipts and emails, and to ask questions about your own spending (Capture and Ask, Beta)

3. User Accounts

To use Pocket Clear, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain the security of your account
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use

4. Free, Pro, and Lifetime Plans

Pocket Clear offers the following plans:

• Free Plan: Unlimited local expense tracking, custom categories, reports, and themes.
• Pro Plan ($4.99/month): All Free features plus cloud backup, cross-device sync, and budgeting tools.
• Pro Lifetime Plan (one-time payment): All Pro features for the lifetime of the product, with no subscription and no auto-renewal. Full details, including activation and refund terms, are on the Pro Lifetime Plan page, which forms part of these Terms.

Capture and Ask are Pro features. Until 31 December 2026 they are available to all users at no charge; from 1 January 2027 they require an active Pro or Lifetime plan. Expenses captured before that date remain in your account, and nothing already saved is removed or locked when the promotional period ends.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Monthly Pro subscription:

• Pro subscriptions are billed monthly through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
• Refunds for monthly subscriptions are handled according to Apple's or Google's refund policy.

Pro Lifetime Plan:

• The Lifetime plan is a one-time purchase made on our website. It does not auto-renew, and there is nothing to cancel.
• Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the Merchant of Record for the purchase and collects and remits any applicable sales tax, VAT, or GST.
• You may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, for any reason. After 14 days the purchase is non-refundable, except that if we ever permanently discontinue Pro we will refund you on a pro-rated basis: the amount paid minus US$4.99 for each whole month since purchase, never exceeding the amount you paid.
• "Lifetime" means for the lifetime of the Pocket Clear Pro product. Any future higher-tier plans (for example, a "Premium" tier) are optional and priced separately, and we will not move features that are part of Pro on your purchase date behind a separate paid tier. 6. Your Data

• You retain all rights to your transaction data.
• Free users: Data is stored locally on your device only.
• Pro users: Data is encrypted and synced to our servers.
• You can export or delete your data at any time.

7. Wealth (Beta) and Investment Data

The Wealth feature is an optional beta feature that displays read-only balances and holdings from brokerage accounts you choose to connect.

• Third-party connections: Brokerage connections are provided by SnapTrade. When you connect an account you also agree to the SnapTrade Terms and Conditions, presented during the connection flow.
• Read-only: Pocket Clear cannot place trades, move money, or make any changes in your brokerage account.
• Not investment advice: Wealth information is provided for informational purposes only. Pocket Clear is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, or fiduciary, and nothing in the app is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or other asset.
• Third-party data: Balances and holdings come from your brokerage via SnapTrade and may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. Do not rely on them for trading decisions; your brokerage's records are authoritative.
• Beta: The feature is provided "as is" and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued.
• Your data: How wealth data is handled — including that we never store your holdings or credentials on our servers — is described in our Privacy Policy and in How your Wealth data is protected. Disconnecting deletes your connection data at SnapTrade.

8. On-Device AI — Capture and Ask (Beta)

Capture and Ask are optional beta features that read bank messages, receipts, emails and your questions on your device and turn them into transactions or answers.

• Opt-in and off by default. Both live behind one switch on the On-Device AI tab. Nothing in this section applies until you turn that switch on, and turning it off stops it.
• Beta. The features are provided "as is" and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued.
• Pro, free until 31 December 2026. See section 4. From 1 January 2027 they require an active Pro or Lifetime plan; expenses already captured stay in your account either way.
• Processed on your device. The reading is done by your phone's own on-device model where one is available — Apple Foundation Models on iPhone 15 Pro and newer with Apple Intelligence on, Gemini Nano on Android phones that support it — and otherwise by Pocket Clear's own rules running on the phone. Nothing about the message, receipt or question is sent to Pocket Clear or to any AI provider. How the resulting transaction is stored and synced is unchanged and is described in our Privacy Policy.
• Model availability is your operating system's, not ours. Whether an on-device model is available on your phone, in your country and in your language is determined by Apple or Google. Where it is not available, Capture falls back to Pocket Clear's rules parser for bank messages and card alerts, and some kinds of input may not be readable at all. We do not guarantee that any particular device or region will have it.
• You confirm what is saved. Readings can be wrong. Capture shows a confirm card when it is not sure, and a confident reading can be undone from the toast or edited afterwards; Ask is read-only and never creates, edits or deletes a transaction. You remain responsible for the accuracy of what is recorded, and Pocket Clear is not liable for a decision made on a misread amount, date, merchant or answer.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to bypass security measures
• Interfere with or disrupt the service
• Reverse engineer or decompile the app
• Use automated systems to access the service excessively

10. Intellectual Property

Pocket Clear and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

Pocket Clear is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

• The app will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Data will never be lost (always keep backups)
• The app will meet all your specific needs

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pocket Clear shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data
• Financial decisions made based on app data
• Service interruptions

Important: Pocket Clear is a personal tracking tool, not financial advice. Always consult a financial professional for important decisions.

13. Data Loss

While we take precautions to protect your data:

• Free users should regularly back up their device, as local data can be lost if the device is lost or damaged.
• Pro users' cloud data is backed up, but we recommend periodic local exports as well.

14. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:

• Your access to the app will be revoked
• Your cloud data will be deleted (Pro users)
• Local data on your device remains until you delete the app

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
