Connect an AI assistant

Give Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or any other AI assistant read-only access to your synced Pocket Clear data, and ask it anything: "Where did my money go last month?", "Which subscriptions went up?", "Build me a dashboard of my spending by category this year." The assistant reads your numbers through a token you create, and it can never add, change or delete anything.

What you need

Create a token

  1. Open Settings and tap Connect an AI assistant (in the Pro section). On the web, sign in at web.pocketclear.app and open Connect an AI assistant at the top of the page.
  2. Choose how long the token should last — 30, 90 (the default) or 365 days.
  3. Leave Include notes off unless you want the assistant to read your transaction notes.
  4. Tap Create. The token is shown once; Pocket Clear keeps only a fingerprint of it and cannot show it to you again.

Copy the prompt

Tap Copy prompt and paste it into a new chat with your assistant. The prompt holds your token, a link to the API reference the assistant reads first, and a first question to get it started. After that, just ask.

Treat the prompt like a password: anyone who has it can read your synced data until it expires or you revoke it. If you lose it before pasting it anywhere, revoke that token and create a new one.

Include notes

Notes are off by default. With them off, the note on each transaction is left out of everything the assistant sees, and searching never matches note text. Turn Include notes on only if your notes hold something you want the assistant to use. The setting belongs to the token — to change it, create a new token.

Expiry

Every token stops working on its own at the end of the period you chose. Expiry is fixed from the day you created it; using the token doesn't extend it. When it runs out, create a new one and paste the new prompt. You can have up to five active tokens at once — one per assistant, for example.

See when a token was last used

The list under Connect an AI assistant shows each token's name, its last four characters, when it was created, when it expires and when it was last used, with the country the request came from. "Never used" means no assistant has read anything with it yet.

Revoke a token

Tap Revoke next to the token and confirm. It stops working immediately, for every assistant that has it. Revoked and expired tokens stay in the list for a while so you can see what happened, but they can never be used again.

Troubleshooting

The assistant says the token has expired

Create a new token and paste the new prompt into the chat.

The assistant says the token was revoked or isn't valid

It was revoked, or part of it was lost while copying. Use Copy prompt on a new token rather than copying the token by hand.

The assistant says Pro is required

Your Pro has lapsed. Your tokens are paused, not deleted, and start working again as soon as Pro is renewed. You can still see and revoke them while Pro is off.

The assistant says Cloud Sync is off

Turn on Cloud Sync in Settings and wait for the first sync to finish. Pocket Clear won't let you create a token while Cloud Sync is off.

The assistant can't open the link

Some assistants, or some plans, can't browse the web. Switch on web access or search in your assistant if it has the option, or use one that does. Otherwise, open the link in the prompt yourself (it ends in /me — change it to /summary for this month's totals), copy the JSON the page shows, and paste it into the chat.

The numbers look different from the app

The assistant sees what has synced. If you've just added something on your phone, give it a moment to sync. Months follow the calendar unless you ask for other dates — if your month starts on another day, say so.
