Lend & Borrow

Lent a friend some cash, or borrowed from someone until payday? That money isn't spending and it isn't income — it's coming back (or going back). Logging it as an expense would inflate your Money Out and throw off your budgets, and not logging it means you forget who owes whom.

Lend & Borrow keeps a running balance with each person. You record the loan, optionally set a due date for a reminder, and record repayments as they happen — in full or a bit at a time. Each repayment lands in the month it actually happened, and none of it counts toward your Money In, Money Out, budgets or reports.

Turn it on

  1. Open Settings and tap Lend & Borrow (in the Pro features group).
  2. Turn on Enable Lend & Borrow. The same screen then shows everyone you have an open balance with.

Record money you lent or borrowed

  1. In Settings > Lend & Borrow, tap Lend or Borrow. You can also tap Lend on the Add Transaction screen, in the row with Split just below the amount.
  2. Type the person's name (names you have used before are suggested).
  3. Enter the amount and date, and optionally the payment method the money came out of (or went into).
  4. Optionally set a due date. On that day you'll get a reminder at 9 am — unless the balance with that person is already settled.
  5. Tap Save.

Record a repayment

  1. In Settings > Lend & Borrow, tap the person.
  2. Tap Record repayment. The amount starts at what is still outstanding — change it if they paid back only part.
  3. Set the date the money actually moved and tap Save. The repayment is its own entry on that date, so it shows up in that month's history.
