Weekly Recap
Weekly Recap is a single screen built around one question: how did this week go? It shows your total spent so far this week, a category breakdown chart, how that compares with last week, a four-week trend for context, and two or three plain-language call-outs — your biggest single expense, your busiest day, or the category that moved the most.
It's a snapshot of the current week, not a report you configure. There's no date picker and nothing to filter — open it and it always shows the week you're in.
What's in Weekly Recap
- Total spent — everything you've logged so far this week.
- Category breakdown — a chart of where that total went.
- Change against last week — how this week compares with the one before it.
- Four-week trend — the last four weeks side by side, so one number has some context.
- Insights — two or three plain-language observations, such as your largest single expense, your busiest day for spending, or the category that moved the most since last week.
How to reach it
Open Reports and you'll find Weekly Recap there. You can also get to it by tapping the weekly summary notification when it arrives — see below.
Your first week
Weekly Recap needs a previous week to compare against and four weeks of history to draw a trend. If you're in your first week with Pocket Clear, neither exists yet, so neither is shown — Weekly Recap doesn't invent a comparison or a trend to fill the space. This is deliberate: a made-up baseline would be worse than no baseline at all. The total spent and category breakdown for the current week still show normally; it's only the comparison and the trend that wait until there's something real to compare against.
What counts as spending
Weekly Recap follows the same rule as the rest of the app: it totals spending only. Transfers between your own payment methods are excluded, and money you set aside into a savings goal is never counted as spending either, whether or not it moved real money out of a payment method. Neither shows up in the total, the category breakdown, or the insights.
Partner Mode
If you're linked in Partner Mode, a scope toggle appears at the top of Weekly Recap so you can switch between Me, Partner, and Combined spending — otherwise it's hidden, since there's nothing to switch between. The toggle always starts on Me, every time you open the screen. It doesn't remember whichever scope you left it on last, so if you want your partner's or your combined view, you'll switch to it again each visit.
The weekly notification
Pocket Clear can also send you a notification with that week's Recap. It's opt-in and off by default — turn it on from Settings → Notifications → Weekly Summary. When it's on, it arrives on Sunday morning carrying that week's real figures, and tapping it opens straight into Weekly Recap. Turn it off and it genuinely stops — no more notifications until you turn it back on. See Push Notifications for how it fits alongside the app's other notifications.
