Push Notifications

Pocket Clear can send you push notifications to keep you informed without needing to open the app. Notifications are optional and fully controllable — you decide which types you want to receive and can turn them off at any time.

There are several types of notifications: the daily reminder to log expenses, the weekly summary described below, transaction reminders for upcoming bills, and partner activity updates if you use Partner Mode. Each type can be toggled independently.

Push notifications require your device's permission. When you first enable notifications in Pocket Clear, your phone will ask you to allow them. If you decline or later revoke permission in your device settings, Pocket Clear will not be able to send notifications even if they are enabled in-app.

How to manage notifications

1. Open Pocket Clear and tap Settings (gear icon).
2. Scroll to the Notifications and Reminders sections. The daily reminder and the weekly summary are under Reminders.
3. Toggle each notification type on or off:
   • Daily Reminder — a daily nudge to log expenses.
   • Weekly Summary — one notification a week with that week's real spending figures.
   • Transaction Reminders — alerts for upcoming bills (Pro).
   • Partner Updates — when your partner logs a transaction (Pro).
4. Changes take effect immediately.

Weekly Summary

The weekly summary is on by default since version 2.14, for new accounts and for existing ones when they update. Pocket Clear sends you one notification, generated entirely on your device, on Sunday morning — not more than once, not on any other day. It carries that week's real figures, not an estimate. Tap it and it opens straight into Insights, the screen with your full category breakdown, the comparison to last week, and the four-week trend. If two or more days of your week are empty, it opens catch-up instead. Switch the toggle off and the notification genuinely stops — nothing arrives until you turn it back on.

Troubleshooting

• If you are not receiving notifications, check your device's system settings to make sure Pocket Clear has notification permission.
• On Android, make sure Pocket Clear is not in a battery-restricted mode, which can block background notifications.
• On iOS, check Settings > Notifications > Pocket Clear and ensure "Allow Notifications" is on.
