Appearance

Settings → Appearance gathers Pocket Clear's display preferences in one place: how big your text is, how amounts are rounded, what colour your balance shows in, and which parts of the Home screen are visible.

All of it is free, and all of it is a per-device setting — none of it syncs. Change something on your phone and it stays exactly as you left it on your partner's phone, and on any other device of your own signed into the same account.

Theme

On iPhone, Appearance shows a Theme row reading System. It's informational, not a picker — Pocket Clear follows your device's own light or dark mode setting rather than offering its own switch.

Text Size

Scales the whole interface up or down, on top of your device's own font size setting. See Text Size for the full picker.

Decimal Places

Controls how many digits appear after the decimal point on amounts. This setting has moved into Appearance — it works exactly as before. See Decimal Places for the options.

Balance colours

Two independent colour pickers control the balance card on Home: one for when positive, one for when negative.

Until now, a month you were down for looked exactly the same mint green as a month you were up — the minus sign in front of the number was the only thing telling them apart. You can now set the negative colour separately, so a shortfall is obvious at a glance.

Both start on Mint, so nothing about your Home screen changes until you decide it should. Setting When negative to Red or Orange takes two taps.

• When positive — choose from Mint, Red, Orange, Blue, or Violet. Defaults to Mint, which matches how the balance has always looked.
• When negative — choose from Mint, Red, or Orange. Also defaults to Mint; change it to Red or Orange to make a negative month stand out.

The two pickers are separate on purpose, so a negative balance can look different from a positive one no matter which colour you pick for each.

Hide on Home

Four toggles let you turn off parts of the Home screen you don't use. Nothing is deleted — turn any of them back on whenever you like.

• Day streak — hides the streak badge. See Day Streak & Milestones.
• Secondary balance line — hides the Overall Balance line, or the Carried over line when carry-over is on. It doesn't affect the Net Balance line carry-over adds — that one stays visible. See Balance Carry-over & Overall Balance.
• Setup guide ring — hides the completion ring. See Setup Guide.
• Hide-balance eye button — hides the eye icon on the balance card. Because the icon is your only way to unmask a hidden balance, turning it off also reveals your balance, so you're never left staring at dots with no way to see the number again. See Hide Balance.

Spent today

Home's Recent Transactions card can show a line above the first transaction totalling what you've spent so far today.

It only counts today's expenses — income and transfers aren't included, and anything you've deleted isn't either.

It hides along with your balance: tap the eye button to mask your balance and this line masks with it, and revealing your balance reveals the line again.

It also follows whichever filter you have set on Home — Me, Partner, or Combined. If you're partnered and viewing Combined, the figure includes your partner's spending for the day too, so it can read higher than the number on your Home Screen Widget — the widget has no Me/Partner/Combined filter and always totals only your own spending. That difference is expected, not a bug.

Turn it off any time under Settings → Appearance, in the row labelled Show "Spent today". It sits just below Hide on Home, as its own toggle rather than one of the four inside it.

Good to know

• Free for everyone. Nothing under Appearance requires Pro.
• Per-device. These settings live on the device you're using and don't sync — not to a linked partner, and not between two of your own devices.
• Reversible at any time. Every toggle and every colour choice can be changed back whenever you want.
• Counts toward the Setup Guide. Changing any Appearance setting from its default — including turning off Show "Spent today" — marks Appearance done in the Setup Guide.
